CRATOS
CRATOS (Center for Research on the Applications of Telematics to Organizations and Society) is a research unit of the School of Economics of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore at Piacenza. It was founded in spring 1996, with funding from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore at Piacenza and the Fondazione di Piacenza e Vigevano. CRATOS' main objective is, as suggested by its name, the
invention and study of new applications of information and telematic
technologies to industrial and commercial enterprises, and more generally,
to the whole of society. Amongst the research topics that CRATOS considers
part of its "jurisdiction" are Internet and similar network
applications (intranet and extranet, for example): electronic commerce,
web advertising, web marketing, multimedia conferencing, communications
(telephone, videophone), telework, information retrieval (above all
on the World Wide Web, but also from various databases), video-on-demand,
customer relationship management, virtual companies, and so on. CRATOS
is currently involved in research projects in the fields of e-learning,
e-government, knowledge management, and the applications of ICT to transportation
and logistics. CRATOS is directed by its founder, Prof. Domenico Ferrari. |
